In the middle of last year l took on my first ever commercial space for my business and at the same time l, embarked on doing an 8 week Challenge with a Mentor, Glenn Azar, founder of Bro & Aella youth camps.
Even though l have been reading and watching, listening to podcasts and attending self improvement development programs / seminars on and off for many years. If l was to put the number down it's possible a little bit frightening (LOL).
All the while l got bits and pieces l pulled out of each lesson and some parts of them I can say definitely contributed to me having my wonderful not so little children in my life, the skillsets l have now. Other parts of it hadn't quite worked to their full potential until l really took on board building good habits, and not just building them but sticking with them. Up until now l have seen progress and there is still more to come but lam finding me and my personal freedom which is making me happier and a much more fulfilled parent and educator and friend.
So part of this reason is the following why now l believe understanding building good habits and sticking with em and using the a concept of doing hard and strong for 21 days and in total commitment to it for a further 90 days and you have found yourself in a formed habit, then it's like getting up and having breakfast, showering it's become part of your auto-pilot.
Whilst having my mentor Glenn, he would Challenge us in a group setting to be uncomfortable and that by being uncomfortable we would see growth if we were willing to put the hard yards in and truly be accountable for when we didn't reach our goals we had dedicated ourselves to achieve each week. Glenn didn't ask anything more from the group that he wasn't prepared to do himself, so was awesome we could also see how it's done. Not only did we need to make 3 top priorities, we also needed to make it that they were non negotiable. They had to get done.
By really sticking with making 3 top priorities a week I've been able to achieve several short uni courses to better my business and network and be a part of community projects alike, which l have truly enjoyed, l have joined a gym and made a commitment to being more active and healthy.
Now l can help my children and my clients further by sticking to building good habits. My goal now is to enhance my participants' lives by providing them and developing the tools they need to achieve the successful outcomes that they don't always see themselves achieving. Whilst we inspire and encourage and explore all possibilities that meet them where they are at in the beginning, to make it a success.
My favourite four are Clarity on my goals, two Communicating my goals with others to make me accountable, and thirdly Commitment to keep on even when it's getting hard or to know that it needs tweaking or the Courage to ask for help.
Steps that are l have used are evidence based on science:
Set a specific goal = Be very Specific like how often and what your aim is exactly
Make the Goal Fun so it's worth repeating
Create a Detailed Cue - example l will read for 20 mins on Monday through to Friday after my evening shower.
Find the Right kind of Social Support for you, not just by standing on the sidelines being cheerleaders, because who you surround yourself with matters, as you will become the people you surround yourself with people that will help you succeed with your goals and support your beliefs are the kind of people you want to be with.
Be able to Foster Flexibility
Good luck with the Goals setting and achieving and if you or your children need assistance please don't hesitate to contact us:
