Foods that cause Brain Fog

Do you and or your child suffer from Brain Fog?

My thoughts that more often than not our children are having trouble concentrating and self-regulating their behaviors, this can sometimes be a cause of a more and more common complaint that is or to often associated with brain fog.

What is Brain Fog?

Brain fog is characterized by cognitive impairments to memory, attention, executive function, and the speed of cognitive processing. It is not a medical condition itself but rather symptomatic of an underlying condition that can range from poor nutrition or illness to undiagnosed food sensitivities or sleep deprivation.

Several foods and drinks that may be factors to Brain Fog:

  • MSG: The effects of MSG is that it can last from a few hours to days and the most common of these is brain fog. Here’s how it works:

  • Sugar and High Refined white Carb Foods: High in sugar and artificial sweeteners packaged and processed foods that are often teamed with other artificial and harmful ingredients — preservatives and additives and colors along with white” flours, that also heavily refined paired with sugars, and corn syrup can lead to high glucose problems can also lead to systemic issues such as yeast overgrowth, also known as Candida albicans.

  • Gluten: For some people, regular consumption of high gluten can lead to low or high levels of inflammation, which can impact the way that the brain functions.

  • Caffeine and Alcohol

  • Dairy: In some cases, high dairy diets can also be associated with- lactose issues with digestive symptoms, more subtle signs of food sensitivity can that can also be included in the brain fog. Severe cases, it can actually lead to mood disorders and autoimmune, allergy or long-term sensitivity.

Several symptoms that are associated with Brain Fog:

For those that Suffer from brain fog it is basically the opposite of feeling level-headed, calm, optimistic and motivated.

Some of the Brain fog symptoms can usually include:

  • low energy or fatigue

  • migraines and headaches

  • forgetfulness and trouble remembering information and concentrating

  • low motivation, feeling hopeless or mildly depressed

  • anxiety

  • confusion and irritable

  • trouble sleeping through the night or insomnia

  • difficulty exercising
