Week 5

Our Book this week is Ocean, A big Fold - out Concept Book - Board book – May 5, 2009 by Joanne Barkan (Author), Jo Brown (Author)

Such an a wonderful illustrated book with bold bright colours.

* We will use our book reading to promote everyday conversations. Hence the social of back and forth to building to promote literacy and vocabulary

* Cocepts of next, to /Big & little?

* Rhyming

* Following instruction.

* What print looks like.

* What makes a book (front cover, the spine, the back)?

* We work together on the letter T for Turtle

* We will also work on the sound the letter T makes (sound say's t-t-t)

* We will be working on the color Green

* The number 5

* We also do a Craft Task practicing our fine motor skills eg: perfect pencil grip, scissor cutting

* Perhaps evening some singing and to end it all some quite meditation.

A few Ideas's for home.

Food snack:

Fish cakes, Calamari rings, Tuna Bake, make star / shell shaped biscuits

What Shapes do you see on the boat:

Square, circles, ect:

Counting:

how many Clown fish do you see? / what are the colours of the Seahorse / How many black ink spots has the Octopus squirted out.

Talk about the colours you see:

Orange,Blue, Yellow, pink , Blue

Art project:

Make a colored Octupus use a paper plate for the body and coloured streams for the arms or

Field trip:

visit a pet store and have a look at different gold fish or visit SeaWorld or a local Aquarium

Movie :

Shark Tale, discuss the movie when it's finished the colours they see what was the name of the friendly Shark, Where did Oscar work?
