Making Bears to reinforce for language

l conduct weekly Read and Speech and Language classes and l have used the bear face cut outs as a craft for preschool aged students to make their own puppet after reading "Bears New Friend" and l have also used this for "We are going on a Bear Hunt" and " The Three Little Bears" I just love finding new and easy inexpensive and fun therapy activities to share with you, so when I saw this idea on Pinterest, I knew it just had to be done and shared. It’s super easy for little hands, but can be adapted for older students. You can use this technique to adaptable to other animals and or bugs used as a reinforcement activity with just about any therapy goal. Use it together with spring, garden, or picnic themes!

What you need:

brown paper bags

construction paper or cardstock in multiple colors for the bear body parts and or felt

Or you could just tick these peices on to background paper you enough for every student

scissors

stickers eyes or buttons

glue sticks

What to do:

Cut the paper into circles and semi-circles in a couple of different sizes. I traced around mug and a tea saucer for mine.

Cut small strips of paper to use for arms, or felt stripes and circles to line the ear and also to use for the nose

Use stickers for eyes or buttons.

How to use it:

Give each student a paper bag to start making the bear use the construction card to place the body parts for his/her bear. Now after each correct answer or articulation production, let the student choose a bear piece. While waiting for their next turn, allow students to glue their bear pieces to the paper bag or background paper.
