How to Save $1378 in one Year doing our 52 week money challenge
l have a dream to teach my children to be wonderful Savers and thrifty spenders. So with that in mind l am sure some of you may have heard already about the "52 Week Savings Challenge". The 52 weeks saving challenge is where each week you set aside a $ dollar amount in this case we have chosen the lucky $2.00 Gold coin (Pirate Gold - Treasure as my son 6 calls it).
We are a family of 4 so it would be absolutely amazing if by this time next year we had managed a whooping $5512.00, what an awesome Xmas trip we could have or simply yet be one step closer to a Goal we have yet to choose. Or a small nest egg that you could continue to add to year after year, or have it as an emergency slush fund for those unexpected times.
Now to start, l do like to look at our pirate gold growing, however this also can lead to that moneybox or jar becoming a temptation, so our peeps will receive their pirate gold, via direct deposit into their school banking Dollarmites account. Along with myself and husband so we don't have 4 money jars / moneyboxes laying around, the house. (You can use what ever banking product you like a great place to look if your peeps don't have an account yet is Children's Bank Accounts - InfoChoice www.infochoice.com.au/banking/...account/childrens-bank-accounts/ as they have a large number of accounts to compare so you know what accounts and services will be a good fit.)
For myself and my husband it would be great to start in reverse and put away the larger amount first so by week 12 $558 x 2 =1116.00!! how cool would that be, that would certainly keep the motivation up. As we could see the progress we had made. So in turn would encourage ourselves to continue on thus decreasing the amount in two and in our case increasing the amount in the kids. So it would all even out here. Thinking out loud you could just set a side the same amount each week of $26.50 x 52 weeks and still achieve the same result of $1378.
l have printed our chart off and stuck one to the fridge and laminated one each for the peeps so they can cross the boxes each week to see they have received there pocket money for doing good listening, be respectful, be great happy learners.
Any who happy saving, wishing you and your family a prosperous new year for 2016.
Love Stacey
