Our Book this week is “My heart is like a Zoo” by Michael Hall
Fabulous Illustrated book with clear simple pictures using the heart as the theme pattern, 20 colorful Zoo animals
* We will use our book reading to promote everyday conversations. Hence the social of back and forth to building to promote literacy and vocabulary
* Concepts l am choosing is next to
* Rhyming
* Following instruction.
* We look at what print looks like.
* What makes a book (front cover, the spine, the back)?
* We work together on the letter H for Heart
* We will also work on the sound the letter H makes (sound say's huh!)
* We will be working on the Red
* The number 6
* We also do a Craft Task practicing our fine motor skills e.g.: perfect pencil grip, scissor cutting
* Starting the lesson singing the Hello song at the start to introduce ourselves and tell each other our name and to end it all some quite meditation.
This book can also be used for talking about emotions, Valentines Day, Trips to the Zoo counting

Counting:
How many Hearts make the shape of the zoo animals? / What is the color is the steady Yak / How many horns does the rugged moose have, how many are socks is the caterpillar wearing.
Talk about the colors you see:
Orange, Blue, Yellow, pink, Blue, Red, Black, purple
Art project:
Make a colored Zoo animal using different colored paper and shapes or an animal mask
