What Parents need to look for when looking for a Pre-prep service

images-3.jpeg

These a few things that are quite commonly offered, all though the time frame varies in the length of time allocated around these themes, depending on the hours and duration of the service, that you decide to take.

My few tips:

  • Literacy

  • Numeracy

  • Opportunity to Play

  • Communication (talking and listening, and asking the all important W questions why, what, who, where, when)

  • Personal – self help skills and social and emotional well being development

  • Physical development and health

  • Team work

Additional items for Parents to consider:

  • Fees- Cost’s depend heavily on four factors as listed

  • Hours of operation – the length of the session

  • Is their funding available

  • Do you want to go private or public

  • Size of classes – Student teacher ratio

  • Quality of the class environment

  • Teacher child interaction / teacher parent interaction and visa versa, feel comfortable to ask Questions or have concerns met.

  • Blue card checks

  • Security and safety

My belief is the each child is unique. So providing credit and praise for the things that they do well, while nurturing, them to discover and investigate new learning opportunities. Always remember that children learn and react with new experiences and whilst ever opportunity is to promote positive feelings as educator, we also allow children to grow and learn what strategies will work best for them.
